22nd Catholic Caribbean Conference Held in Trinidad
On the first week end in January 2020, the Catholic Charismatic Conference (CCC) was held at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya, Trinidad, under the theme : Let us start! Let us rebuild. (Nehemiah 2:18). Participants came from Grenada, St. Vincent, St. Lucia, Dominica, Barbados, Jamaica, Belize, Bonaire, Curacao, Aruba, US Virgin Islands, Canada and of course, Trinidad and Tobago.
The conference involved Holy Mass on Saturday and Sunday, praise and worship, healing Ministry, a youth session with His Excellency Arch Bishop Charles Jason Gordon, another youth session in which youth from Trinidad displayed their talents in song, poetry and drama, and workshops, - all to the glory of God Almighty! There was also ministry in which, the gifts of the Holy Spirit were prayed for as well as healing ministry led by Fr. Raymond Francis with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Additionally, there were well prepared talks by various priests. His Excellency, Archbishop Gordon, gave the opening address based on the theme: Let us start! Let us rebuild.
Those present left the Conference, fired to take action in obedience to the mission coming out of their baptism and to begin or continue rebuilding in their various communities and countries. What is forever critical in those conferences is what happens afterwards. My sincere prayer is that each person would make some difference, first in his or her life, family and country, in a similar way as each drop of water makes up the ocean. The after effect must start with the individual and extend to family, church and community. Therein lies the challenge which is at the heart of the gospel: Change.
