Presentation of Diocesan Synod Report
A thanksgiving mass celebrating the fruits of the diocesan phase of the synod process here in the Diocese of St Georges in Grenada was held on Saturday June 12th at the St Andrew the Apostle R.C. Church.
The synodal process, through which Pope Francis invited the universal church to listen, was launched in October of 2021 and it is the first of its kind to involve all the members of the church.
Saturday’s celebration of Holy Mass featured the presentation of the synod report compiled by the Diocesan Synod Committee following a number of consultative forums throughout the Diocese. The joyous celebration also recognized the unified approach of the church via a presentation of the work of other nations.
Bishop of the Diocese of St Georges in Grenada, Clyde Martin Harvey presiding over the thanksgiving mass, described the new synodal process as a powerful moment for the church as the universal church is called to listen and participate.
Another fruit of the synodal process was also highlighted during the thanksgiving mass; the musical production widely adopted as the national anthem of the synodal journey for the Diocese of St Georges in Grenada. The piece was produced by a youthful team from Petite Martinique and it is being embraced by a growing number of dioceses throughout the universal church.
Lastly, the Diocesan Synod Committee had the opportunity to take a bow for their hard work and dedication towards the task of coordinating the community forums and compiling the final diocesan report.
