Spice Isle Toastmasters Club Conduct Speech Craft Sessions in St. Mark the Evangelist Parish
It was truly a pleasure for Spice Isle Toastmasters Club to have collaborated with the St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church to execute an eight session Speech Craft for its young adults. Speech Craft is a Toastmasters International programme that provides its participants with the fundamentals of public speaking in a relaxing atmosphere. Toastmasters International is a non-profit educational organisation that develops its members’ communication and leadership skills through a network of clubs. This programme complimented the parish’s mission to develop its young people’s knowledge and skills, so that they would be in a better position to serve both the church and themselves.
The Speech Craft began on October 17 and ended on December 12, 2020. Sessions were held every Saturday from 10:00am to 12:30pm at the parish pastoral centre in Victoria. Six of the parish’s young adults participated in this programme.
Credit must be given to Kisone Ferguson, Glenroy Vincent and Gary Andrews who provided us with technical and back-end support from planning stage in August to the closing ceremony in December. Wendy Tamar-Ashby, Christa Pascal-Alexis and Renette Pascall-Mitchell provided guidance.
It is our hope that the participants will continue to build their confidence and improve their public speaking skills in the parish as we “Live Church, Build Community and Serve Country”.
